Brian has a little bit of a cold today. We were reading books before naptime, and he became obsessed with the muffin man song in one of his nursery rhyme books – we sang it maybe 12 times and then I put him in his crib and he refused to give up the book! We sang it again a bunch of times tonight before bed. He can kind of say “muffin man”. I wonder what is so interesting about it!

Cute!
Marie is finishing up her quiet time in her room. I thought I heard her calling me, so I went to the stairs and listened – she is singing O Little Town of Bethlehem with Brian’s singing (and flashing) book. She just came downstairs and said “I sang a Baby Jesus song! And I knew all the words!”
Potty training stinks
You know, I just don’t like spending time in the bathroom just hanging out while someone else goes to the potty. This time I had to stand there and hold a half-eaten lollipop, too. A tootsie roll pop. Heh.

“That was a family of toots!” said Marie as she, well, tooted her way down the stairs this morning.
points for mommy?
I guess it was a bad idea to let Marie trim her own fingernails. She did a pretty good job though – I only had to trim a few corners and she only has one bleeding finger. She is very proud of herself. My nerves are a little shaky.
Merry Christmas (almost)
Merry Christmas Eve, and a welcome to everyone that saw the site on our Christmas card and decided to stop by. We hope you like the site. We try to write about the both the fun and not-so-fun parts of Marie and Brian’s growing up to share with friends near and far. Stay tuned for updates, we usually write something new every couple days! Drop us a comment if you feel inspired to.
Outer Space
Tonight’s episode of Wonder Pets took place in space where the Wonder Pets had to rescue a chimp in a rocket. There was a meteor on a collision course so they had to tow the rocketship out of the way. They saved the day just in the nick of time! So we’ve had a few conversations about “medium rocks”. She refuses to believe they are called “meteors” and corrects me. 🙂
He can count!
Yesterday, I went to pick Brian up and he was struggling against me. As we often do, I began to count, with three being the number where patience officially runs out. I said “one…” and he said “two… three!!” So, he’s a genius. Or perhaps he is just a good mimic.
She says the cutest things
This evening, we were watching Pete cut a board with his saw and of course he wore his safety goggles. We told Marie what they were and she called them “safety gobbles”.
another quote
“I like to eat food in the rain!”
She got some plastic food from their play kitchen and brought it into the foyer where she is now sitting in a box full of packing peanuts, making it rain by throwing them into the air. She is perfectly happy.
