It appears that humans don’t digest kiwi seeds.

The real story of Broccoli in the News
Well, I was about to write about broccoli the other day when Marie came by and wanted to get on the computer, but it was time to go upstairs so instead of making her wait while I used the computer and then tell her she couldn’t, I just tried to close what I was doing and I guess I hit enter and posted a story with no story. Anyway, here’s what happened with the broccoli:
I was getting stuff out to cut up veggies that were going to be for dinner. We had just had lunch, including a cookie with lots of frosting for dessert. Marie came by and saw the broccoli on the counter and gasped “we forgot to have broccoli!” and reached for it and tore off a big hunk. What am I going to say, no you can’t eat that broccoli, it’s for dinner? So I let her have some. She munched it and then went away happy.

Bones
Marie took a nap today – she might nap once a week if she gets really tired – she was really tired! Anyway, that meant that she didn’t go to sleep when we put her in bed at 9:00 and kept coming downstairs. She said the reason she came downstairs was that her bones hurt and she needed to stay up for a couple minutes so they would feel better. She drank some milk and then curled up in the hammock to read her magazine. I took her back upstairs at 10:00, but she was downstairs again 15 minutes later because her wall calendar was scaring her. Well, it does have a big closeup of a grinning, upside down monkey on it. But it’s been there since Jan. 1! So I took it down and she snuggled up and I think will go to sleep now.
Binky
Well, it was kind of a fluke. She asked for it on Tuesday, asked for it and ended up going to sleep without it last night, and used it again tonight. I think she is nearing the actual giving it up point but it’s not quite here yet.
Binkyless
Tonight, Marie went to sleep without her binky. Didn’t ask for it, wasn’t offered it, didn’t need it. May have been a fluke, but we’ll take it!
observations of a 3-year-old
Marie is having triscuits for a snack – she said “Hey! These are the crackers with cracker splinters! But they don’t hurt you.”
Yes, and we had LOTS of fun in the snow. Whee!
food fads
Marie is dipping her raw broccoli in her hot chocolate. Mmmmm!
Skunks
I never expected I would be called upon to share my vast knowledge of skunks. It finally happened. Tonight at bedtime Marie and I got on the subject of skunks and she knows a lot more than I though – she asked all kinds of questions. I think she saw a Diego episode where he saved a skunk or something. She said she wasn’t worried or afraid, she was just going to be thinking about it tonight in her dreams and if she got scared she would come and get me.
Vision Screening
Marie had her first ever vision screening test at preschool on Friday. She passed!
* We are happy to find that your child was able to see the line on the vision chart expected of this age.
and
* Child showed no evidence of muscle imbalance (cross-eye).
Here’s hoping she’s different from her dad in this respect!
