Marie drew this as a present for me. It’s her with an Easter basket, and there are more Easter eggs hidden in the grass. The detail is amazing.

The back of the photo had a bunch of black scribbles, with a red circle and slash through it. It says “NODrK” which was her attempt to spell “Not Dark”. The circle-with-slash is pretty universal, I guess.

Happy New Year!

Blessings and best wishes for a Happy New Year to all of our readers who have not stopped reading because we have not updated in a month. December was crazy for us; the first weekend was the madrigal feaste at church, second weekend was Gemini’s company party, third weekend was our caroling party. Christmas was a welcomed break from December’s hustle and bustle.

Since Christmas we’ve been lucky enough to have Uncle Jim, Billy, and Regan come visit, and Gammy and Grandpa will be coming this weekend. So Christmas is being extended for us.

For now I will leave you with an exchange from yesterday:

Brian: I have to poop.
Mom and Dad: OK, go on the potty.
Brian: I want to sit on your lap because I want to poop on you.
Mom: How sweet!

babies

Brian and Marie are lying down on the floor in the piano room, pretending to be babies who are going to sleep. They both have blankets. Marie is using a frisbee as a pillow and Brian is using a tambourine. Comfy!

Cough drops

Today on the way home from preschool, Marie asked me about mummies. I told her that a long time ago, people used to wrap up people in pieces of cloth after they died. She said, but Scooby Doo has mummies that are alive. Oh, right. So I told her that some people made up stories about mummies coming to life so that they would have a good scary monster, but that it was just made up. Yeah, she said, because now when people die you put them in a cough drop.

Quotes

Tonight while eating noodles at dinner, Marie said, “Noodles have privacy so they are good for you when you are sick.”

Also at dinner, Brian dropped his spoon (on purpose) and Marie got up out of her chair, got it and gave it back to him. We commented how that was a very nice thing to do and she said, “I had my brains good.”
